In BC, not all locks are created equal. Whether you’re playing with friends, lovers, or your dominant, the lock system offers a deep and hierarchy of control and restriction. This guide give an overview of the various lock types, who can interact with them, and how different game systems like BCX settings and relationship roles affect them.
User Roles Overview
Before looking at the locks themselves, it’s important to understand the hierachy that determine who can interact with a lock:
- Public: Everyone else.
- Friends: People you know and have friendlisted.
- Dominants: Recognized authority figures approved by the BC management.
- Lovers: Players you have a romantic or intimate relationship with.
- Owner: Your primary dominant. Has top-level authority and access.
- You: Yourself.
Lock Types
Each lock offers different levels of control and behaves differently. Generally locks can be simply opened, picked or removed by your lovers or owner. Advanced: The BCX Rule & Pickproofing User Setting
A powerful modifier exists:
“Locks on you can’t be picked” – when enabled, no one can pick your locks. This makes any pickable lock into a truly secure one.
This setting can be toggled:
- By you in the game settings menu.
- By people with access to your BCX rule - often your dominants or owner.
When combined with High Security Locks, this setting enables very interesting dynamics. You can assign specific individuals who are allowed to unlock, while completely denying lockpicking attempts from others. It’s a potent tool for establishing firm, nuanced control without ownership. This is a great way to ‘lend’ subs to another dominant for example.
Tips
- Exclusive locks are beginner friendly with high security and pandora locks being the more ‘extreme’ side.
- Use password locks for roleplay puzzles or coded challenges.
- BCX settings add a meta layer** of control. Be mindful who has access!
